Merry Christmas Eve!

Just in case you aren’t in the holiday spirit yet, here are some pictures from Trevor’s school program this week.

Christmas may be in two days…

But we are still playing in leaf piles down here in VA…..

an overview…

Funny how I seem to blink and two weeks have gone by.

We’ve been super busy getting ready for the holidays coming up, but things seem to be kicking into high gear with this weekend.

We have the house pretty much decorated…still need to finish outside.  Our roof lights are up, and our angel is in the front flowerbed (I’ll have to get a picture of that—her positioning makes her look like she is mourning the death-by-unknown-animal suffered by my favorite hydrangea ::tear::) but I haven’t been able to choose what I want to do with the porch railings or a wreath on the front door.

Trevor is going to be in the Advent pageant at church this year (like a Christmas pageant, only there is no baby Jesus because it. is. not. Christmas. yet.).  That is Sunday, I am not convinced he will do anything more than stand there and make one adorable donkey/cow/sheep.  That, is a silent role my son is good at.

Tuesday is Trev’s holiday program at school….he has been doing parts of whatever is a part of the program at home, so I really don’t know what to expect, but I am sure it will be fabulous given our experience so far at West Ghent. (PS, decision to send Trevor to WGS = one of the best we have ever made)

Wednesday Shane goes on leave for about 3 weeks.  It will be great to have him home…but we will get to that more later.

I finished my first semester of graduate school this month.  Interesting experience…very different from my accounting class experience at ODU.  Ended up with a 4.0 after a perfect score in the class….amazing what happens when you care about the subject matter, eh?

I feel the need to include some cute Trev photos, for good measure…

it’s the holiday season…

It must be, because a family of reindeer just moved into our living room!

Sub-Zero Saturday

I woke up this morning to a frost covered yard, scraper-worthy car and a temperature app that notified me that it is 28 degrees outside.  My poor heat pump had kicked on the auxiliary heat in order to keep up (that is a story for another day though.).  I am thoroughly confused.  I thought I lived in VIRGINIA, not Connecticut.  Let me say that again, just in case Mother Nature needs me to slow down a bit…VUR-GIN-YA, not CON-NET-I-CUT.  Cold weather is more than welcome….in December. Or January.  But this, this is ridiculous.  I haven’t even picked up my winter coats from the dry cleaner yet.  Give me the chance to do that first, ok?

Moving on…

I have been fighting something all week….not sure what, but it makes me randomly tired and I have a lovely voice that only my family can appreciate (read:  I cannot talk.).  So, this morning Shane and Trevor took over breakfast duties…

Delicious!…I am pretty sure it is the aprons.  Shane had one too, but will not allow me to share the photos.

And now Shane has it in his head that he wants to head downtown to the farmer’s market (?!?!)…Off to locate the ice scrapers!      Happy Saturday!

Halloween!

We had a great Halloween this year!  Like last year, we met up with the Settars and Chase and Trev spent the night together.

Before we went out, we did carve our pumpkin…

DSC02199DSC02197Trevor was not a fan of sticking his hands inside the pumpkin.  DSC02200 DSC02202 DSC02207 DSC02214It’s DINOSAUR time!!

All Saints Day Celebration

Continuing the tradition we started last year, Amy and I dressed up for our R.E. All Hallows Eve celebration yesterday morning.  And because I love sharing my humiliating moments on here, below is a picture of us in our costumes:

DSC02180

Amy is St. Therese of Lisieux and I am Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta.  We went with a nun theme this year……

BTW, see that the picture is a little fuzzy?  That is because Amy’s son took it and was laughing so hard that he couldn’t stand still….This is actually the best out of 4 takes.

Friday Night Party!

Ok, so maybe it wasn’t a party, but Trevor still had an exciting evening this past Friday.  We invited his friend Chase over for the evening and the boys had a great time playing and having dinner at their own special table.

Trevor’s Big Boy Room

Trevor has done a number on the wallpaper border in his room over the last several months, so last weekend we tore it down and did a quick makeover of his room.  We took it from baby turtle nursery to big boy in a day!  We are really happy with the way it turned out (so far)!

We still have to get picture frames and put his name letters back up on the wall, but for now, it will do.

P.S.  I made the curtains myself.  Susie Homemaker, whaaaaat?!
