Trevor’s First Christmas

My last post must have paid off because Santa was very good to Trevor (and all of us) this Christmas.  DSC03206

Thursday night, my mom, brother, Shane, Trevor and I went to mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.  It was nice service, and nice to be back to visit the church I grew up in.  On Christmas morning, everyone woke up around 8am—except for Trevor.  We all hung out and waited for him to wake up.

Once Trevor had woken up, we fed him and then began to show him all of the things that were waiting for him under the tree.  He did good unwrapping his presents and of course was more interested in the paper and bows than anything else.  He was a very lucky boy and got tons of clothes and books, a rocking horse, wagon, Sillytown and a bunch of different toys (block sets, piano, a baby laptop and stuffed animals to go with some of the books he had gotten.)  Now that we have returned home with everything our house is 100% overrun with toys and I have yet to walk through the living room without tripping.   Shane and I must have been good this year too…I got the Dan Brown book that I had wanted and a necklace and matching pair of earrings from Shane.  Shane got some new clothes he had been wanting, a new watch and Wii Sports Resort. My parents also got us some new things for the house that they thought we would enjoy.

After we opened presents we spent the day playing with Trevor and his toys and reading him his new books and that evening we had a delicious dinner that my mom cooked.

It was a quiet, calm Christmas, but we were together with our family and our little boy was happy—which is the best gift all on its own.

Happy Birthday Grampy!

Saturday was Grampy’s (my dad) birthday.  It was nice that we were there in Woodbridge to be with him.  We weren’t able to really do anything special because of his knee, but it was very nice to just be there to spend time with him.

Just in case Santa checks our blog…

Just in case Santa feels the need to check the blog tonight before arriving at our house, Trevor has a special picture message for him.

Dear Santa, I have been very NICE.  I promise.

Trevor in the SNOW

Last weekend, my parents in Woodbridge, VA got 15 inches of snow dumped on them by the Nor’easter that blew through.   We of course, got nothing more than a dusting in Portsmouth, but that is to be expected.  Anyway, while out shoveling the driveway, my dad slipped on a patch of ice, fell and broke his kneecap.  He is now 100% immobile and is on strict orders not to bend the joint and to stay off of it as much as possible.  Because of that, we ended up packing everything up and heading to my parents’ house for Christmas.

Since we were surrounded by all the snow, we couldn’t resist bundling Trevor up and taking him out to enjoy the snow.  We mostly pulled him around in my sled from when I was a baby (24 years old and it is still a beauty) but he did take a ride down the hill on a sled with me, Shane and Uncle Chris.  Here are some pictures of our morning in the snow.

Just Because...

I feel like there haven't been enough pictures of Trevor on the blog lately.....

Ladies and Gentlemen......

We have a crawler!!!

Trevor officially started crawling last night (no more belly crawling or scooting) Thinking it could be a flook we waited for him to crawl again today to make sure...well, he is still on the go today and seems to be getting quicker and better at it by the minute. Thank goodness we babyproofed the house when we moved in!

'Tis the Season

Last weekend we started decorating for Christmas. Instead of doing everything at once, we are doing all of the Christmas preparation bit-by-bit, so we started with our outdoor decorations.

It has either been raining or too late when I think to take a picture of what it looks like all lit up at night, but I am sure I will get one between now and when we take everything down in January.

sidebar: as we start to decorate, we have to test all of the christmas lights before we start to put them up. of course, the lights are absolutely fascinating to Trevor....

uh, November?

Was there a November? Did anything happen in the Chapman household? (other than taking cute pictures of our sleepy lil guy and all of his hair)...Well, yes...I just am bad at actually getting posts up here.

So here it is: November in a nutshell....

November 11-13th a huge Nor'easter (the November Nor'easter or the Atlantic Assault HAHA--depending on what news channel you watched)rolled through the area and put most everything underwater. We thankfully did not have any damage to the house, however the back half of our lot was a lake and our neighbor's tree came down into our yard taking out a bit of our fence. Shane and I couldn't get into work on Thursday and Friday due to flooding in Norfolk, so we were able to enjoy a few days at home with Trevor. By Saturday, we were all suffering from severe cabin fever, so we ventured out to Home Depot to purchase rakes and other things so that we could clean up from the storm. Ah, the joys of home ownership.

At the end of November, we traveled up to Connecticut to spend Thanksgiving with my family. As always, Trevor was great in the car and the drive wasn't bad at all. We stayed at my Aunt Carol's house and Trevor had a great time being read to and fussed over by everyone.
