Wait a minute....Third Trimester?! Are you sure?

and I hit it last week?  Again, are you serious?

I guess that I have been just too busy with Trevor and work that I didn't even notice that I hit the third trimester last week.  The endpoint of this trimester is a BABY.  Wow.  That is some heavy stuff there.

I am trying my hardest not to think about the actual delivery and the fact that I am going to be doing this on my own...that is scary.  I have less than 13 weeks until little Olivia should be making her debut so I suppose that means that I should start doing stuff to actually prep for her arrival.  Other than buying clothes.  That is not a problem at. all.

Over the weekend I did make a little progress.  My parents drove down on Saturday to help me paint the nursery and now that we have paint on the walls I have started to pick out things that I want to order for the room. Helloooooo Pinterest.  Coming up with an idea for Olivia's room is not as easy as doing Trevor's, because we are doing a guest room-nursery combo, so I need to take everything into consideration as I pick it.  I have a crib skirt and bumper picked out (but not ordered) and yesterday I ordered the.monogram.of.all.monograms. to hang over the crib.  It is probably my favorite baby item in the whole world at this moment.

And that is where my progress on the nursery ends.  I have also yet to get (or have one of my amazing friend's husbands get) all of our stuff out of the attic so that I can start to inventory what is still good and what I need to go purchase replacements of....Maybe by the end of the month?

Like I said, not in freak-out mode yet over lack of progress.  I have always worked better under pressure....That said, Trevor's room was done and we were just doing "final things" by this time when I was pregnant with him. Give me a couple of weeks and I am sure I will have my typical checklists and schedules to make sure that everything is completed in time.

So, here are some photos....27 weeks 4 days with Olivia.  :)

For the life of me I couldn't get a decent picture this morning....but I was crazy in love with my coral pants, so I didn't want to wait and try again tomorrow morning.
I am feeling fabulous and am super impressed with my progress so far.  I have still yet to reach my pre-pregnancy weight after losing in first trimester and I haven't had to do too much modification at the gym as of yet. Still getting there at least three times a week--a must for stress relief and an energy boost when I need it!    No aches and pains and no (crossing fingers) braxton-hicks .  So far, so good!

to calm your nerves...

For those who have expressed concern over my stubbornness in doing the lawn myself (ahem, Mandy and Katie....) you will be pleased to know that I have gotten two bids from lawn companies in the last two days and hopefully my lawn mowing days are coming to an end soon....as in this week.

Sharing

Because I am too tired to sift through all the fun that is currently saved on my memory card to come up with a decent post, I will share an e-mail sent to Shaner earlier this afternoon.

Subject: Things I Love....or not.

I love.....
being 23 weeks pregnant with a baby girl.
living on half an acre in a nice neighborhood.

I don't love....
mowing that half an acre while 23 weeks pregnant with a baby girl.

You're welcome....for the childbearing and the lawn mowing.

Love you.

He responded by telling me that when I decide I am human, he'll hire a lawn service for the summer.  Good man.

...I am going to tough it out for a while though.

For the sake of comparison...

I hit the 20 week mark over the weekend and got it together enough that I was able to land in the same outfit that I took my 20 week photo from when I had T-rex.

I am going out on a limb here by saying that this pregnancy is proving far kinder to me than the last.
I'll take it!  Let's just hope that the next 20 are just as kind!

Hey There, Second Trimester!

Today is the first day of my second trimester.  Yay!  Along with my energy ::hopefully:: it brought a day complete with 75 degree temperatures, which meant that, at least for today, I was able to trade in my increasingly uncomfortable dress slacks for a nice comfy dress.

In honor of entering the blissful part of pregnancy (can you tell I am trying to will myself into feeling better?) I figured I would update on where I've been pregnancy-wise and all that loveliness....

  • Clearly, since I was pregnant back with Trevor in '08-'09 I forgot everything about what it was like to be pregnant.  Like, everything.  I may have even had to text some of my mom-friends with what are typical first-time-mom questions.  (thank you for your gentle responses, ladies)  This is definitely a downside to there being close to 4 years between kids.
  • I lied, I didn't forget everything.  The one thing I didn't forget was how terrible morning sickness is.  It is cruel and unusual punishment.  That is one memory that had no issue flooding back...ugh.
  • Speaking of all day morning sickness, the one thing that was a bummer about this go-round was the two weeks of bliss that we had between finding out we were expecting Trevor and when I started living in my bathroom.  Apparently, when you are not stalking your cycle and find out that you are expecting because you accidentally look at the calendar and realize you are late means that (at least in our case) you find out you are pregnant on a random Thursday night and are feeling like poo by Saturday.  Yay for finding out at almost six weeks pregnant.  Sike.
  • This time we didn't announce our pregnancy until much later....and I loved it!  It was nice to keep our little secret to ourselves.  The downside was that I am a horrible liar and had to come up with some lame-o excuses for not going out much, or having to bail on stuff last second.
  • It is true that you are more exhausted with your second child...so true.  Taking it easy is a joke.
  • Hopefully, I will also fall into the class of people who don't gain as much weight during their second pregnancy.  I am currently  7lbs down from my pre-pregnancy weight.  I have been able to get back into the groove of going to the gym a couple of times a week recently, so hopefully that will help as well.
  • Am I showing? Well, it is still too soon to tell.  Before I snapped these pictures this morning I would say 'no' or that my "bump" is just a 'pre-existing condition' but after getting these of the memory card this morning, I'd have to say this is a pretty rounded 'pre-existing condition'.....so, officially in that awkward in-between stage.  I asked Shaner what he thought when I emailed him this today (I think my exact wording was "Baby, or BLT from lunch?", hopefully he will answer **correctly**.
And so, here we are.......13 weeks 4 days pregnant:

2013….let the fun begin!

We knew that 2013 was going to be a challenging year for our family with Shane’s deployment taking up most of the year.

But, apparently that wasn’t enough excitement for us……..
