ahh, yesterday...

.....its funny how one evening with an old friend can make you realize how much you miss how things used to be.....

Vinny came over tonight for dinner and to hang out while he waited for his girlfriend's flight to come into Norfolk. It was great to see him and spend time with him again.....spending time with him like we used to though made us realize how much we miss the good old days when it was Vinny, us, the Millers and the Rundbergs all spending time together.......we miss you guys soooooo much!

4th of July

For the 4th of July, we packed up and headed to spend the holiday in Connecticut with my family. We left Portsmouth at 3:30a.m. on Friday morning and got to Lordship, CT at 11:30 a.m. Trevor did really well in the car and slept for most of the trip. Once we got to NY he started to get a little fussy, but Shane jumped into the backseat and played with him to keep his mind off of being in his carseat.
Friday we took my Grandmother out to lunch and while we were out we stopped by the beach at the seawall. Then we headed back to the house and everyone came over to swim in the pool and do some sunbathing.
The morning of the 4th we all got up and took Trevor for a walk around Lordship. He slept for most of the ride, but at least he was out getting some fresh air. Saturday afternoon everyone came over to Grammy's house again and we had a big cookout for the holiday. Trevor loved spending time with everyone and was all smiles and "chatting" it up.
We headed home on Sunday morning, leaving there at 8a.m.----get this, I was over the George Washington Bridge in NY by 9 a.m. and was crossing the Delaware Memorial Bridge at 10:30....WHOOOO, I was flying!

King George

Last night Shane and I had our first night out since Trevor was born. It was nice to get out for a few hours, but we missed Trevor the entire time and were more than ready to go get him from Andrea and Chris's place at the end of the night.
For our evening, we went to the George Strait concert at the Virginia Beach Amphitheater. It was an amazing show and we both had a great time. Blake Shelton opened for George and Miranda Lambert even made a surprise appearance to sing "Home" with him. (awesome, that is one of my favorite songs) George put on quite a show and has an amazing voice. We are both hoping it isn't another 19 years before he comes back to Hampton Roads!

Here are some pictures of our great night out!

Swimming!

One of the perks of moving into our townhouse in Portsmouth was the fact that the complex had a pool right out our back door.
We decided that we needed to start our summer off right by getting him in the pool. I practically lived in my Grandmother's pool when I was little, so I figured we can't start Trevor soon enough in the water. He has been in the pool several times in the past couple of weeks and absolutely loves it. We don't have a lot of pictures of him in the water yet, but more are to come soon!

Mother's Day

Today I celebrated my first Mother's Day, and it was such an amazing day.

The day started off with me waking up at 5:45 a.m. and to my suprise, Trevor was just starting to wake up--and it was the first time he had been up since we put him down at 11:30 the night before. That's right, he is sleeping "through" the night. I know it probably won't last, but it started my mother's day off on the right foot. At work this morning, my second grade students made me Mother's Day card and brought them up to me in my office during their morning session. The cards were so sweet!

After work, we all headed home from church and Shane had me change out of my dress clothes and told me to get dressed as if I was going to the park. While I did that, he packed up the car and we headed out. I had no idea where we were going (he told me to dress AS IF we were going to the park, so I had not clue other than to plan to be outside)....we ended up at the park where Shane suprised me with a Mother's Day picnic. He even brought Trevor's new travel swing (that will have another post all to itself) so that he could swing while Daddy and I ate our lunch. It was such a beautiful day today, I am so thankful that we were able to enjoy the outdoors and get some fresh air. Once we were finished eating, Shane gave me my first mother's day gifts.--he gave me the sweetest cards from him and Trevor as well as a new baby Precious Moment and a mother and baby necklace. After a while we headed home to hang out and relax for the rest of the afternoon.

I hope everyone else had as wonderful of a Mother's Day as I did! Happy Mother's Day!Trevor loving his new swingmommy, i don't like my big floppy hat

smiles...

Trevor has been smiling in his sleep for a while now but in the past week or so he has started to smile at us. He is also starting to find his voice and make sounds at us, but whenever he does that, he hears himself and then stops because I guess he doesn't know where the sound came from --let alone that it came from him.
Anyway, he is has been giving out some big gurgly baby smiles for about a week or so, but now he does it long enough that we have time to snap a picture of it.
