Friend-Filled Weekend: Part One

Last Saturday we headed up to Richmond to see our friends Mandy and Paul with their boys as well as our friend Amanda, her husband and their two beautiful children.  The Children’s Museum of Richmond was wonderful and there was tons of interactive stuff for the children to do.

the fall-freak-flag is flying!

The weather is finally (somewhat) cooperating, so it might really be fall!

of course…

I get all my gorgeous fall swag out of the attic, purchase even more cute decorations at Michael’s, decorate like the Martha Stewart wannabe that I am……and it decides that nope, it really isn’t time for fall after all.  (hah.) Enter, 84 degrees and muggy on October 2nd.  Season change = FAIL.

Adorable-ness that is the outside of Casa de Chapman, to come….when the weather cooperates.

Bathroom Re-do

As I lamented on Facebook a few weeks ago, we went under an un-planned bathroom overhaul thanks to Trevor and a bottle of blue-green nail polish.  We finished the project over the weekend and I am in LOVE with how it turned out….so I am borderline thankful that Trevor pushed us into doing it.  But seriously child, don’t ever touch nail polish again.  Ever.

As with everything in our house, we began with the builders’ grade ka-ka, so for the master bathroom, all we left was the bath surround and the toilet.

Here is the before:

That, my friends is an entire bottle of nail polish AFTER three hours of scrubbing.  Awkward notes about our bathroom:  the second picture is taken from the opening of our bathroom.  It is an open doorway (no door) off of the master bathroom and the bathroom runs along the back wall of the house.  Six foot section of carpeted flooring in front of vanity with sink (yuck.  carpet + water.  grody…) Second doorway goes into full shower/tub combo and toilet.  Strange.  Very Strange.

AFTER:

We did: tile flooring throughout, new vanity with granite countertop, new mirror over vanity, new lighting fixture.  The vanity and vanity top are smaller, but there is no good place in master bedroom for full-length mirror, so we put one in bathroom.

The paint color is Valspar: Longhorn (love you kyle and heather!)  And I hated it….until I found this pretty shower curtain which pulled everything together.  DSC03108

Now that I look at the pictures I realized that we still have 1.5 projects left to do in the bathroom---we are going to frame out both mirrors to match the wood grain of the vanity, and we are going to replace the door to the medicine cabinet.

First Soccer Game

Trevor started playing soccer this fall and had his first game!  The kids were so cute playing and they all had a great time!

First Day of School

Things have gotten super busy around here—we’ve been up to some pretty exciting stuff here at Casa de Chapman—so I will hopefully get to give a crash course of the remainder of our summer at some point.

Today though, was THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

Trevor started his second year at West Ghent School and we couldn’t be happier with how it all went.
